Work-wise: it's been a busy one. I had my first ever year 11 and year 13 classes, meaning a hectic January-April and then a relatively boring and horrifically-empty timetable once those students had left for study leave! A less stressful year of work than the slog that was my NQT year, but I have, once again, found myself homeless in the Midlands, and back to live for another happy summer with my family in the South East, before returning once again to a new home in September (my 9th house in 8 years...).
The predicament for the summer, therefore, is exactly what to unpack, and trying to plan how much I will be able to squeeze into an unfurnished bedroom that is approx. two thirds the size of the bedroom I have occupied (and happily filled to the brim with books, nail-polish and keepsake postcards) since September. Storage ideas led me to sign up spontaneously to Pinterest: a site which, really, I probably should have signed up to before but, me being me, and slightly nervous with downloading -is that the word?- apps, I hadn't. Pinterest- from my limited 10mins of careful searching- would be great for storage ideas if I had the odd two grand to blow, but there seemed to be very few (i.e. no) storage ideas for a young-professional-who-still-views-herself-as-a-uni-student-on-a-limited-budget, and whose soon-to-be-flatmate was still glued to Freecycle for beds, sofas and tables. Saying that, I have some ideas.
*Ahem*
So I'm going for the obvious choice of boxes of clothes under the bed. I have also decided that I will shortly need to invest a small amount in a clothes rail that, with springs I imagine, manages to wedge itself between two parallel walls, so that I can mount a small clothes rail in the tiny recess by the window in my new room. I will use my pretty new outdoor garden furniture (which is still temporarily living with my ex-landlord) as a desk and chair, and cover this with some cute fabric from the local haberdashery (I was eyeing some up a few days ago, so this would be great...) and then 'zone' my room into a work area and a sleep area.
If all else fails I will work on my bed.
Photos will have to follow shortly, but in the meantime, any ideas on interior design for small bedrooms would be greatly appreciated!
